SHABAB ALAHLI IS THE CHAMPIONS OF UAE-QATAR SUPER SHIELD

 

Shabab Al Ahli clinched the first-ever UAE-Qatar Super Shield by defeating Al-Duhail 2-1 in a thrilling encounter at Rashid Stadium.

After conceding the first goal, Shabab Al Ahli made a remarkable comeback with two second-half headers to secure the prestigious title.

The match kicked off with Shabab Al Ahli asserting dominance early on, testing Al-Duhail’s goalkeeper, Shehab Ellethy, with a close header from Igor Jesus just 7 minutes into the game. Despite the initial pressure, it was Al-Duhail who drew first blood when Philippe Coutinho launched a powerful long-range shot into the net in the 36th minute, giving his team the lead.

The first half concluded with Al-Duhail ahead, thanks to several key saves by Ellethy. The second half, however, saw a determined Shabab Al Ahli side return to the field with renewed vigor. Luka Milivojević’s precise header in the 55th minute equalized the score, setting the stage for a tense showdown.

As the match neared its end, it was Igor Jesus who became the hero for Shabab Al Ahli, heading in the decisive goal in the 93rd minute and securing a dramatic victory. This victory not only underscored Shabab Al Ahli’s resilience and tactical prowess but also celebrated their crowning as champions in the inaugural UAE-Qatar Super Shield, marking a significant achievement in the team’s illustrious history.
