Shabab Alahli to UAE President’s cup final

Shabab Alahli had qualified to the final match of the UAE President’s Cup, after defeating Baniyas 1-0 in the semi-final match at Sharjah Stadium on Monday night 22 February.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, while Brazilian Igor Jesus scored the winning goal in the 73rd minute.

Shabab Alahli lineup included: Majed Nasser, Mohammad Marzouq, Hamdan Al-Kamali, Abdel Aziz Heikal, Youssef Jaber, Abdullah Al-Naqbi, Majed Hassan, Carlos Eduardo, Jalaluddin Masharipov, Cartabia and Igor Jesus.

The second half witnessed the participation of players Mohamed Jumaa, Saud Abdel Razzaq and Yahya Al-Ghassani, in the place of Masharipov, Majed Hassan and Cartabia.

Speaking at the post match press conference, Mahdi Ali, the coach of Shabab Alahli, congratulated all club members and supporters, appreciating the efforts of the players and the Board of Directors, expressing his happiness in winning and reaching the cup final.

Mahdi said he expected a difficult and closed match from both sides, indicating that his team was the better side in the second half and succeeded in scoring a goal that guaranteed him victory, stressing the importance of preparing for the final match well.
