Shabab Alahli wins Khodro to keep hopes alive

The substitute Pedro Conde scored late goal to register the second  consecutive win against Shahr Khodro of Iran in the AFC Champions League group stage.

Shabab Alahli reached sixth point to stay in the third place in the group headed by Alhilal with 10 points while Pakhtakor are second 7 point, and Khodro with no points in the bottom of the table.

Speaking at the post-match press conference Shabab Alahli head coach Gerard Zaragosa expressed his happiness to win the second game, pointing out that  It was a difficult game.

“the opposition were extremely good and fought really hard. am happy with how the substitutes are scoring, just as Pedro did today, and before him Hareb Abdalla. This only serves to prove that we have 25 players who are capable of playing at any time” he said.

The coach added: “We knew Shahr Khodro were playing for a final chance to get something out of this competition, they gave it their all to get the points. We do not see many chances in matches, especially when we are playing every three days. Tiredness will impact the offensive output of matches.”

Abdelaziz Haikal who was named man of the match said: “am happy with this win and I want to thank my teammates for all that they showed in the match. We needed a victory in order to remain in contention. Our style of play is to control the ball with good distribution and this is what we did today.”

He added: “We have learnt a lot of lessons from this match we will analyze what we did today and try our best to avoid mistakes in our next matches.”
